Aer Lingus abandons mandatory makeup rule for female staff

Aer Lingus has gotten rid of their mandatory makeup rule for its female cabin crew.

Additionally female staff will also not be required to wear skirts as a part of new uniform rules.

The airline is introducing new uniforms with the option of wearing trousers for female crew.

Aer Lingus said in a statement that the new uniform has been designed in cooperation with their staff “to reflect changing dress norms and to better meet the needs of our guest-facing colleagues".

Aer Lingus said in a statement: "As part of the brand refresh announced in January we revealed plans for a brand new uniform designed by renowned Irish designer Louise Kennedy which is being rolled out later this year.

"The new uniform collection was designed in partnership with a number of our staff to reflect changing dress norms and to better meet the needs of our guest-facing colleagues.

"The new uniform collection incorporates a range of wearer options including a trouser option for females and an ability to combine collection elements.

"Aer Lingus uniform staff guidelines for the new uniform are currently being completed, but Aer Lingus can confirm that these will not include mandatory use of make-up.”

The new uniforms will be revealed later this year as a part of the airline’s rebranding.

Aer Lingus have revealed that they will be changing their famous logo and re-branding, promising that both the "look and feel" of the brand will change.

Speaking at APEX EXPO 2018 in Boston, Aer Lingus CEO Stephen Kavanagh said the changes "will reflect the airline's modern outlook and ambition to be the leading value carrier across the North Atlantic".
