Advisory for Vidhan Sabha staff: No casual dressing

LUCKNOW: The UP Vidhan Sabha has issued an advisory for all officials and employees, asking them to be dressed in formal and decent clothing.

The advisory was issued by joint secretary Narendra Kumar Mishra in which it has been said that clothing like jeans, T-Shirts etc will no longer be permitted. “All officers and employees are advised to dress formally, in accordance with the dignity of the Vidhan Sabha,” the note says.

Speaker Hriday Narayan Dixit told TOI that the assembly is a constitutional set up and therefore, it was important for workers to accord it the highest respect.

“I would like to make it clear that this is not a direction but only an advisory since no penalty has been prescribed for any kind of violation. However, people will be strongly encouraged to stick to formal and decent clothing during work hours. We want to discourage casual dressing,” he said. No similar advisory or rule has been issued by the Vidhan Parishad.
