And although we might be biased, we think Liverpool is the best city in the country.
We asked our readers on Facebook what advice they would give to people hoping to move to the city, and this is what they said.
1. Learn to love Liverpool in your own way
Liverpool has a lot of different things to offer, some will take your fancy while others won't so much.
Maxine Okpala said: "Learn how to love Liverpool your way. You're going to discover many wonderful aspects here. You'll also find a troubled past with links to slavery, economic, social & political struggles. The legacy is still present but Liverpool is enriched in spite of it."
Lynn Waters added: "Embrace the culture that you will only find in Liverpool!"
2. Visit the parks
There's a number of beautiful green spaces in the city and beyond, from Sefton Park to Everton Brow for a unique view.
Tracy Collins said her first bit of advice could be for people to visit these places, she said: "Visit the parks they are stunning, Sefton park is my favourite and Croxteth park comes a very close second, the people of Liverpool are the salt of the earth and if you’re ever in need someone will help you."
3. Learn to be tough
Scousers are known for their sense of humour and banter, but Liam Whelan said his advice to people moving to Merseyside would be to toughen up.
He said: "Learn to be tough, an not be easily offended as Scousers have the most ruthless banter than anywhere else in England."
4. Don't believe the biased hype
I'm sure we can all relate to people outside of Merseyside hearing our accents and automatically assuming we will steal their watch.
Reader Peter Waring encouraged people not to listen to the scouse stereotypes and get to know people.
He said: "Don't listen to the biased hype about Scousers are tracksuit wearing, thieves. We are funny approachable and kind people, people who are very protective and proud of their hard working class roots. We are not the picture the rest of this country would have you believe about us."
There's a nationwide poll to find the UK's Favourite Place run by our sister staycations recommendations site 2Chill. Don't forget to cast your vote for Liverpool .
5. Visit the waterfront
Anya Harriet Connolly encouraged people moving to the city to see one of the most iconic sights, the waterfront.
She said: "You get good and bad parts wherever you go….. visit the great green spaces we have. Take a stroll along The wonderful waterfront, visit the beaches. Scouse banter is everything! Mingle in with the nightlife we have. Check out our town centre and whatever stereotyping you have received on our beautiful city, just don’t judge it before you see it for yourself."
6. Everyone will talk to you
If there's one thing you come to Liverpool for, it's the people.
Ste Slack's advice to people moving to the city is not to be shocked when people come over and talk to you.
He said: "People will talk to you here, they are friendly, they don't want anything from you. They are asking because they are interested. My friend from London was in shock because of this and said to me what do they want. I said nothing."
MaryRose Fitzsimmons added: "Enjoy the warmth, the humour and be open to the positive, let go of negative images…there is always more goodness than rubbish!"
7. 'Find a translator'
Scousers are know for speaking a little too fast at times, Danielle Read's advice was for people to 'brace themselves' for that.
She said: "Brace yourself for a culture shock and find a translator."
Rita Colette Flaherty added: "Learn the language first."
