Passengers hoping to make it back to Bristol ahead of Boxing Day lunch were left furious when their flight was diverted to Birmingham at the last minute.
The easyJet flight left Malaga at 10.45am on December 26 and was due to land at Bristol Airport at 12.35pm, however it was diverted to Birmingham at the last minute due to "adverse weather".
It was the only Bristol-bound flight that was affected.
A statement from easyJet said: "easyJet can confirm that flight EZY6052 from Malaga to Bristol on December 26 diverted to Birmingham as a result of adverse weather in Bristol.
"The aircraft continued its journey to Bristol after refuelling.
“We are doing everything possible to minimise the impact of the disruption for our customers and keeping them informed.
“The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is our highest priority.
“Whilst this is outside of our control, we would like to apologise for any inconvenience experienced as a result of the weather.”
Passengers eventually made it into Bristol from Birmingham just after 2pm, but their long journey was not over as they then faced a wait for their luggage.
Passengers were left unhappy by the situation. Speaking to Bristol Live, Ray Johns said: "Standard easyJet flight redirected to Birmingham to refuel and wait because of nonexistent wind and followed by no information for baggage, which was then dumped out on a luggage belt for another flight and now having to take a bus to pick up a hire car."
