Adventure Time: Fionna And Cake teases Season 2 trailer with Huntress Wizard

Adventure Time: Fionna And Cake Season 2 is on the way and HBO Max just dropped a new poster for the show. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Fionna and Cake, but the girls are back with a friend. Huntress Wizard has been a big part of the marketing for the show in Season 2. She gets prominent billing on the new poster with our favorite duo of adventurers. (No offense Finn and Jake!)

HBO Max was really surprised by how well the Adventure Time spinoff did considering the slightly more adult tone and the streaming-based nature of Fionna And Cake. But, the audience for a show often finds the program designed for them, no matter where it is, or how long it takes for that journey to conclude. The people that made the leap into Ice King’s brain were rewarded with a sprawling narrative about our wants, dreams, and motivations.

It’s funny because that’s basically what Adventure Time has been about from the jump. (Well, that and weekly surrealist adventures of a traumatized boy, his stretchy dog, and a nuclear apocalypse. But, why split hairs!) Fionna and Cake has done what the best tertiary episodes of the original show did, which is broaden things out and make you consider a part of this colorful world that never appealed. You’re up Huntress Wizard! No more just being Finn’s most stable girlfriend, it’s time to see what makes her tick!

Adventure Time: Fiona and Cake Season 2 is coming soon.

Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake

Season 1 of Adventure Time: Fionna And Cake took viewers on a bit of a road trip of the magical world of OOO. Now, in the second installment, the creative team behind the HBO Max hit wants to keep things closer to home for viewers. Fionna and Cake did originate in the Cartoon Network series this massive media franchise sprung from. So, it only makes sense to think about the version of Finn the Human that we’ve grown to love over the years.

During an appearance at Annecy Film Festival this year, showrunner Adam Muto explained this choice. “This time, we wanted to keep most of the adventures in Fiona’s world and I thought that would make it more normal, but it’s still pretty strange,” Muto said. “And that’s kind of baked into ‘Adventure Time’ DNA.”

That seems pretty pointed in showing fans the direction for the series. Yes, things are still going to be weird, after all it’s Adventure Time. But, instead of multiversal shenanigans we’ve got good old fashioned strangeness to look forward to and Adventure Time: Fiona and Cake Season 2. It’s time to come along on another wild ride with the girls as they probably break our hearts at the same time.
