Manchester United are without forward Cristiano Ronaldo in the starting line-up to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The Portuguese international returned to Old Trafford from Juventus in the summer, scoring four goals and adding two assists in his nine Premier League appearances so far.
He has also been a key player for the Red Devils in the Champions League so far, with six goals in five matches that have seen the side qualify for the knockout stages.
However, despite the goals scored, the 36-year-old has come in for some criticism due to his lack of pressing and apparent disruption to the team's effectiveness as a whole.
The criticism comes as United slipped to ninth in the league, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer losing his job following a run of one win in six top-flight games.
Caretaker boss Michael Carrick leads the side out for the clash at Stamford Bridge following a 2-0 win over Villarreal in the Champions League for his first match in charge.
Reports suggest that German coach Ralf Ragnick could soon take over as interim manager with a role on an advisory basis for the future.
But before then, the Reds face Thomas Tuchel’s side, without Ronaldo and with the Blues in fantastic form.
Chelsea fans were quick to take to social media to discuss the dropping of Ronaldo from the team.
@Itsdebiz : “Ronaldo Not Starting Is A Good Move, Cause Now Jorginho Will Be Pressed, Should Be Wonderful Game This One.”
@Cfcmoons : “Aight, the plan is put four past #mufc in the first half so that when they bring on Ronaldo he can keep on acting as the poster boy.”
@MK_One : “No Ronaldo in the starting 11 and Chelsea won’t show any mercy.”
@Amaansaeed2000 : “No ronaldo, shaw and Maguire. Advantage United.”
@Oluwoleolulana :”I am even more scared .. they are looking for counters.”
@m8cool : “They hooked Ronaldo. They're gonna pull one out of the hat.”
