'Advantage' Liverpool in Aurelien Tchouameni race as Jose Mourinho 'targets' Kostas Tsimikas

There’s another huge week on the horizon for Liverpool after Saturday’s draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

The Reds travel to Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa on Tuesday evening knowing they must win to keep the pressure on leaders Manchester City in the title race. Then there's the little matter of Saturday’s FA Cup Final against Chelsea at Wembley.

But as Jurgen Klopp's side continue their pursuit of an unprecedented quadruple, no doubt work will be going on behind the scenes ahead of the summer transfer window. And, here, we round-up the latest Liverpool transfer gossip...

Who?

Aurelien Tchouameni

Where?

Marca/Telefoot

What?

According to Marca, Liverpool have emerged as front-runners for the Monaco midfielder. They are reporting that Real Madrid, who were seen as the favourites for his signature, are happy with their midfield options, and so have decided to postpone their bid to sign Tchouameni for another season, giving the Reds a clear run this summer.

Reports emerged last week that Monaco have slapped a £59m price tag on Tchouameni’s head. The Frenchman put in a man-of-the-match performance for his side against Lille on Friday night. He scored two great goals and dominated the midfield as Monaco won 2-1 and jumped up to third in Ligue 1.

French football journalist Julien Maynard of Telefoot went even further than Marca and said it was ‘advantage Liverpool’ in the race for the 22-year-old France international. He tweeted: “The future of Aurelien Tchouameni has not yet been decided - PSG are still hoping - but it is Liverpool and Real Madrid who hold the role to welcome the international midfielder from Monaco next season (advantage Liverpool, for the hour).”

The ECHO recently reported that Tchouameni fits the profile of the type of player the Reds view as being able to add something to their ranks in terms of age, versatility and physical attributes, and he would be a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s gradual evolution of his squad after signing a new contract last month.

Who?

Calvin Ramsay

Where?

GOAL

What?

Liverpool are hoping to sign the Aberdeen right-back in a £4m deal, according to GOAL. The 18-year-old, one of Scotland’s rising stars since making his professional debut last season, is seen as a long-term understudy to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Dons rejected a bid for Ramsay, who has made 33 appearances for his club this season, from Italian side Bologna in January, and reports say Klopp's side also face competition from Leeds United for his signature.

A rumoured £4m fee would also include significant performance-related-add-ons. And should Ramsay move to Anfield, he would fill the void expected to be left by Neco Williams, who has impressed on loan at Fulham during the second half of this season.

Bids are anticipated for the Wales international, who is in search of regular first-team football after an impressive breakout year and with the Qatar World Cup on the horizon. Liverpool value Williams at around £10m, with Fulham, Newcastle United, Burnley and Southampton all rumoured to be interested.

Who?

Kostas Tsimikas

Where?

Calcio Mercato

What?

The Liverpool left-back is being targeted by AS Roma, according to Calcio Mercato. The understudy to Andy Robertson has made 22 appearances for the Reds in all competitions this season and has impressed when called upon. However, he’s only made seven Premier League starts and the opportunity of first-team football may be too good to refuse.

Reports in Italy are suggesting that Roma boss Jose Mourinho wants the Greek international to bolster his ranks. The Italian side are in the Europa Conference League final after defeating Leicester City last Thursday. They already have a strong former Premier League presence in their squad including Rui Patricio, Chris Smalling, Tammy Abraham and Ainsley Maitland-Niles - and Tsimikas would add to this.

The Greece international signed for Liverpool in 2020 for £11.75m and has made 29 appearances for the club.
