Adult Iowa fan gleefully celebrates as he takes foul ball away from a kid

The Big Ten baseball tournament was underway this weekend in Omaha, and the college baseball world was treated to the worst kind of fan:

The fan who takes a foul ball away from a kid.

If you’re an adult baseball fan, there’s room for debate about the proper etiquette of keeping a foul ball. If the ball is hit right at you (and you make the catch), it’s generally fine if you want to keep a $20 baseball. But if the ball is either clearly intended for a child or requires racing against a child to retrieve the baseball, um, let the kid keep the ball.

This Iowa fan did not follow those guidelines on Sunday.

We can see as this adult Iowa fan ran to an empty row for a foul ball. And just as a kid in Ohio State gear was reaching for the ball, the Iowa fan snagged the baseball away from the youngster. Then, he actually celebrated as if this was some sort of accomplishment. Nah, you took a baseball away from a kid.

The broadcast went on to show the fan, seated alongside an older man, still holding the baseball.

Thankfully, this story has a good ending.

The Ohio State baseball team signed a baseball and made sure this young fan didn’t leave empty-handed.

Let this be a lesson: Don’t be that Iowa fan.
