Adsit, Perry, Cromer and more will take part in Patinkin memorial

Jan. 16--A notable group of stage and screen artists will celebrate the life of Sheldon Patinkin, the theater artist and teacher who died Sept. 21, it was announced on Friday.

Although the free, Jan. 26 event is sold-out, attendees without tickets may be seated on a standby basis.

The speakers are all connected to Patinkin through his decades of work with the likes of Columbia College Chicago, The Second City, Steppenwolf Theatre Company and myriad other arts organizations.

They include "30 Rock" actor Scott Adsit, "Scandal" actor Jeff Perry, director Anna D. Shapiro, director David Cromer, Steppenwolf Theatre artistic director Martha Lavey, Second City CEO Andrew Alexander, Second City director of comedy studies Anne Libera, Gift Theatre artistic director Michael Patrick Thornton, theater artist Tom Mula, actress Meg Thalken and Columbia College academic dean Caroline Latta.

Additionally speaking will be Columbia College President Dr. Kwang-Wu Kim, and members of Patinkin's family, Lynn Patinkin and Simon Landon.

The memorial will also include a performance element which will feature actors Callie Johnson, Ren Griffith, Courtney Mack, Cole McMillan and David Stobbe, with musical direction by Andra Velis Simon and Kingsley Day.

The celebration of the life of Sheldon Patinkin will take place Monday, Jan. 26, at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts, 9501 Skokie Blvd. in Skokie. The program runs from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. A reception will follow.
