Adrien Rabiot transfer saga takes shock twist as PSG outcast opens contract talks

Adrien Rabiot has been persona non grata at Paris Saint-Germain since December.

The France international, a homegrown product, is out of contract this summer and his refusal to ink a new deal has seen him ostracised at the Parc des Princes.

Contract negotiations between player and club broke down at the end of 2018 and Rabiot has since been exiled, training alone since March when his mother and agent, Veronique, claimed her son as being held "hostage" by the French champions, and treated 'like a prisoner’.

That came after sporting director Antero Henrique had blasted Rabiot, after being filmed out in Paris in the wake of the club’s Champions League loss to Manchester United.

"I find his attitude and lack of professionalism towards the club, his teammates and supporters unacceptable,” declared Henrique.

Towards the end of the season, Thomas Tuchel made clear his unhappiness at not being able to call on Rabiot, largely due to Henrique.

But now Henrique is being replaced as sporting director by Leonardo, returning to the club after six years away.

Le10 Sport claim that the Brazilian is trying to persuade Rabiot, linked with moves to Spain and the Premier League, that he still has a future in the French capital.

It’s claimed Leonardo has held talks with the player and his mother, as well as boss Tuchel over integrating him back into the first-team squad next term if he signs a new deal - something the German had been keen on amid dwindling midfield options in recent months.

Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham have all been mooted as potential new clubs for the 24-year-old, as have Real Madrid and Juventus .

But Rabiot, it's claimed, is now open to extending his stay, with Henrique moving out.
