Billionaire bidder Adrian Portelli has continued to brutally drag The Block and has confirmed the reason why he’s beefing with the beloved home renovations show after the disastrous finale.
In a scathing interview with news.com.au, Portelli slammed The Block as “completely out of touch and unrealistic” for everyday Australians following the show’s disastrous 2025 finale.
“They’re completely out of touch and unrealistic,” Portelli told the publication.
You see, during The Block’s 2025 Auction Day, two houses — House One and House Two, which had the same reserve price of $2,990,000 — were passed in.

With the two houses failing to sell, viewers blamed the finale fail on the exxy reserves, with auctioneer David Holmes telling realestate.com.au the prices were too ambitious for the country town of Daylesford.
“The Block pitches themselves as a good opportunity for families to buy these famous homes, but these houses aren’t built for everyday Australians. They are meant for the super-rich,” Portelli continued.
“Who is going to go and bid on them when they know they’re competing against billionaires? These houses aren’t targeted at everyday Aussies. They’re multimillion-dollar homes.”
Portelli’s heated words come shortly after he posted two Instagram Stories completely shading the show and its finale. The first one was a selfie with a series of cricket emojis, which was followed by an image of The Block‘s logo scribbled out with the name of his show, “My Reno Rules“, alongside the Seven Network logo.

Why is Adrian Portelli beefing with The Block?
Further in his chat with the online publication, the LMCT+ founder revealed that he’d cut ties with The Block because they knocked back his pitch for My Reno Rules, which is set to debut on the Seven Network in 2026.
“It was initially going to be with Channel Nine, but they lost interest,” he said.
“So I said, ‘All right, if you don’t see the potential in it, I’ll take it somewhere else’. I went to Channel Seven, pitched it within five minutes, and told them, ‘If you want it, great; if not, see you later. ’ And sure enough, 20 minutes later they rang me up and said, ‘let’s do it.’ That’s the story behind that.”

Portelli went on to claim that My Reno Rules will be more successful than The Block due to the fact that it caters to everyday Aussies who are looking into the housing market.
“Everyone watching at home has a chance to win these homes. Every day Aussies can follow the journey of these homes being completely renovated. And essentially, it could be their home being renovated right before their eyes,” he continued.
“The Block appeals to less than 1 per cent of its viewing audience. Meanwhile, My Reno Rules gives everyone a chance to win.”
The details surrounding Portelli’s My Reno Rules have been quite hush-hush for now, but the Lambo Guy has been sharing updates from set on his IG.
We also know that the show will be hosted by Dr. Chris Brown and will debut sometime in 2026 on Channel Seven.
It’ll be so interesting to see how this stands out from The Block, which has dominated the home renovations show for yonks.
