Adrian Peterson will start vs. Cowboys; no update on Derrius Guice injury

It looks like it will be Adrian Peterson’s time in Washington on Sunday as the Redskins take on the Dallas Cowboys in their home-opener.

Redskins coach Jay Gruen told the media on Wednesday that there is no update on the knee injury suffered by RB Derrius Guice, but that AP would get the nod to start in Week 2.

Peterson was surprisingly held out of Washington’s first game of the season, after being put on the inactive list as a healthy scratch. Gruden said that the move was made in order to create some depth in special teams, but several players reportedly had a problem with the move.

Now, it will be Peterson’s time to shine in the wake of an injury to Guice, just like last year. We’ll have to see what he can do with the opportunity.
