Adrian Peterson throws jab at Tom Brady in Eli Manning retirement tweet

It was a very important day for the NFC East on Friday, as longtime New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning announced his retirement from the NFL.

While his future placement in the NFL Hall of Fame is up for debate, Eli Manning will go down as a very important player in NFL History, as he beat one of the greatest dynasties — the New England Patriots — in the Super Bowl twice.

Many current and former players reached out to Manning via social media this week to offer their congratulations on a great career and wishing him well in his retirement. For Washington Redskins running back Adrian Peterson, he took it as an opportunity to poke some fun at Patriots QB Tom Brady in the process.

In case you forgot, Manning’s two Super Bowl wins over Brady and the Patriots were both thrilling. In 2008, the Giants upset and undefeated Patriots team, 17-14 in Super Bowl XLII, thanks in part to the incredible ‘helmet catch’ by David Tyree. In 2012, the Giants once again defeated the Patriots, this time in Super Bowl XLVI, 21-17. In doing so. they became the first team to win a Super Bowl with a 9-7 regular-season record.

I’m sure Brady is over it.
