Adrian Peterson still leads all backs in rushing yards after contact since 2006

Adrian Peterson’s dominant past obviously gives him a leg up on the competition when it comes to looking at stats that span more than 10 years ago.

Even so, Peterson’s surprise showing last year with the Washington Redskins helped him keep the lead in a key area.

As Pro Football Focus shows above, Peterson is still the best-ever in the yards after contact metric since PFF started in 2006.

A year ago, Peterson was doing plenty of that behind an injured Washington offensive line, rumbling for 1,042 yards and seven touchdowns on a 4.2 average.

Peterson’s main competition is Frank Gore, who will spend next year in Buffalo. He’s back with the Redskins on an extension, though he’ll have to share a committee backfield with the likes of Derrius Guice and Chris Thompson.
