Adrian Peterson says he’s talked to Trent Williams in person recently

Washington Redskins running back Adrian Peterson just casually let slip that he’s talked with left tackle Trent Williams — in person.

In person, meaning in the vicinity to the team.

Peter Hailey of NBC Sports Washington had the story and provided a quote from the veteran running back: “I actually was talking to Trent last night, in person. I talked to him.”

Peterson confirmed Williams is in town to “take care of some things” but it didn’t go beyond that.

Keep in mind the recent rumor that said Willaims could end up reporting to the team in time for Week 2.

The Redskins won’t have Williams on the field for the opener, but getting him back is better than not having him at all. It’s hard to say what a Williams return would mean from an extension or contract standpoint.

But based on Peterson’s comments, fans might get an idea sooner or later. As for Peterson, he’s got to deal with the fact he’s been relegated to a role behind Derrius Guice on the depth chart.
