Adrian Peterson says don’t believe a rumor about what he told Dwayne Haskins

Washington Redskins running back Adrian Peterson wants the world to know certain rumors don’t hold much weight.

In the tweet above, Peterson chimes in on a rumor from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, noting he stands tall behind rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins and thinks the young passer can eventually meet his potential.

Haskins came in after an injury last Thursday night and threw an interception on just a few attempts, which again sparked up rumblings of his not being ready.

Interestingly, what Garafolo reported isn’t even that bad, though there is the potential for “dig into that playbook” to be taken in the entirely wrong way by outside observers.

Viewed through that sort of lens, it’s nice to see Peterson so publicly having the back of his rookie teammate. Regardless of what happens with Haskins the rest of the way, this is good to see from veteran leadership on a team that has already lost a head coach.
