Adrian Peterson ranked among NFL’s best in broken tackles last year

The return of Derrius Guice for the Washington Redskins was a fun development in the third week of the preseason — just don’t forget the veteran Adrian Peterson back there.

As seen above in the metrics from Pro Football Focus, Peterson ranked right up there with league leaders in broken tackles among younger names like Derrick Herry and Chris Carson.

That’s the sort of deeper number that gets lost in the fact Peterson ran for 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns last year. It also explains why the Redskins didn’t hesitate to bring back Peterson this offseason.

So while Guice is fun, keep Peterson in mind behind what could be a worse offensive line than the one that took the field last year due to the pending Trent Williams situation.

In short, Peterson isn’t in town just to mentor Guice and absorb some of the punishment — the coaches want him up there with league leaders breaking tackles again.
