Adrian Peterson on playing vs. Vikings with ankle sprain: ‘I’m good’

Redskins running back Adrian Peterson is dealing with an ankle sprain that we thought could keep him from playing in Week 8 against the Vikings, his former team, on Thursday Night Football.

Per Josina Anderson of ESPN, that won’t be the case. Peterson said, “I’m good” and plans to play against Minnesota at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Given Peterson’s history on recovering from injuries, we probably shouldn’t be surprised.

Peterson had a 1,000-yard season in Washington last season and through six games this season, he has 307 yards.

This will be Peterson’s second trip to U.S. Bank Stadium since leaving the Vikings. In Week 1 in 2017 with the Saints, Peterson ran six times for just 18 yards in a New Orleans loss. He’ll be looking for different results this time around.

Peterson spent 10 seasons with the Vikings, rushing for 11,747 yards and 97 touchdowns. He needs just 38 yards to pass Jerome Bettis for seventh on the league’s all-time rushing list.
