Adrian Peterson back at starting RB for the Redskins

With Derrius Guice out for the foreseeable future with the Redskins thanks to a meniscus injury, former Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is back at starter, at least for this week against the Cowboys.

Peterson, 34, ran for 1,042 yards with Washington last season, his eighth 1,000-yard season of his career.

It’s a big season as far as history goes for Peterson. He’s just 345 yards from moving to seventh on the NFL’s all-time rushing list with 13,663 yards, currently held by Jerome Bettis. He also needs just one rushing touchdown for No. 107 of his career, which would break a tie with Jim Brown for sole possession of fifth place.

Peterson played 10 seasons for the Vikings, running for 11,747 yards and 97 touchdowns.
