Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian is 'very optimistic' that he will be fit in time for tomorrow's visit to Southampton.
The Spaniard suffered a freak ankle injury when a fan inadvertently slipped into him during an attempt to join in celebrations of Wednesday's Uefa Super Cup win over Chelsea.
Speaking ahead of a return to Premier League action this weekend, manager Jurgen Klopp revealed that he would have to check on the 32-year-old's fitness, with Andy Lonergan and Caoimhin Kelleher in line for potential debuts in his stead.
But Adrian has now revealed that he expects to be fit for Saturday's trip to the south coast.
"Today I feel much better," he told the club's official website.
"It was a strange, weird situation because we were celebrating between us and one guy jumped from the crowd and started running.
"I think he slipped in front of us and also the security with him and made me a tackle from the side. It was a bit of a strange situation but I feel much better today and I hope [I'm] ready for tomorrow.
"I think I have many chances [to play]. I feel mentally ready and I also hope today with the treatment of the ankle it's going to be much better.
"But I'm very optimistic to start playing tomorrow again."
