Adrian Dunbar to present new Channel 5 series Scenic Ireland

Actor Adrian Dunbar has been confirmed as the presenter of a new Channel 5 series where he will explore the natural beauty across the island of Ireland.

In the two-part series entitled Scenic Ireland, from Afro-Mic productions with funding support from Northern Ireland Screen, the Line of Duty star, journeys through the wild and captivating scenery along one of the world’s most impressive coastlines, stopping off to meet old friends and new.

From climbing the summit of Skellig Michael to swapping stories with the last salmon fisherman on Carrick-a-Rede, this is a personal journey for Adrian - filled with breathtaking views, welcoming people and the hearty food of his homeland.

Adrian Dunbar said: “This has been the most wonderful trip, seeing old friends and visiting places I had dreamed of going to for years...a truly memorable experience”.

Emma-Rosa Dias, Managing Director of Belfast-based indie Afro-Mic said: “We’d planned to film in sunny May, but the pandemic had other ideas. So, with rigorous Covid training, a tight 5-person team and regular testing, Adrian and the crew were able to hit the road safely… just in time for Storm Ellen!

"But then where would a series about Ireland be without a bit of dramatic weather?!

"We’ve loved sharing such a personal journey with Adrian, and we are so excited to be showing off our gorgeous Irish coastline for our first Channel 5 series”.

Daniel Pearl, Commissioning Editor, ViacomCBS said: It’s a real coup for Channel 5 to be able to commission such a high-profile star to take us on this dramatic but very personal journey across Ireland.

"It will be a treat for viewers to spend time with Adrian and to discover more about his own passions as well as experience the beauty of the Irish coast”.
