Adorable Woodie's garden ad tugs on heartstrings with wholesome message about the power of imagination

Woodie's is bringing smiles to people's faces with its latest "adorable" ad on life in lockdown.

The video, titled 'New Best Friend', has clocked up almost 700,000 views so far.

It introduces us to Liam, an imaginative little boy who brings us and his new best friend on an adventure in the garden.

The marketing campaign aims to impart that we’re all homemakers, no matter our age.

The wholesome summer television ad, which launched last month, follows Liam showing someone around the garden - although we are not quite sure who he is chatting to.

As he meanders around outside his house, exploring the garden, it’s clear that the space is at the centre of his everyday adventures.

Liam and his new pal go on an epic voyage where they encounter toe-nipping crocodiles, jump over boiling hot lava on the trampoline and trek through a wild jungle of clothes drying on the line.

The little boy then comes to a stop next to his mother's flower bed where she is gardening in the sun.

He reveals who he has been showing around.

In the cart he is pulling behind him sits a small potted plant which he places in the flower bed.

“These are all your new friends,” Liam says to the pansy plant.

“You’re going to like this place… and you look great. You’re my best friend."

The heartwarming video has captured the public's imagination, with people describing it as "brilliant", "beautiful" and "dotey".

"If this kid came up to me and said 'come on!' like he does in the ad I would follow him to the ends of the Earth. Great casting," one viewer said.

"I watched it 5 times. I wish I could go to Woodie's right now, but only with him," another added.

The video has also been praised for its positive messaging and how it depicts "the power of imagination in the garden".

Mental Health Ireland said: "What a fantastic campaign from Woodie's Ireland capturing the beautiful innocence of youth and the importance of nature. Reminding us all to enjoy simple pleasures and to get outdoors."
