The owner of an adorable dog that fell off Dun Laoghaire pier has praised the Coast Guard and RNLI for their quick work in rescuing the pooch.
Lola, a 10-year-old Shetland, came into difficulty after falling 14ft and getting trapped.
Her owner Mairead realised that she would not be able to safely rescue Lola, and that the tide was quickly coming in.
She contacted the Coast Guard, who then praised her for making the right decision in calling for help.
The Coast Guard said: "Dun Laoghaire were tasked along with Dun Laoghaire RNLI inshore boat to a dog named Lola, a 10 year old Shetland that had fallen off the pier onto rocks 14ft below and was unable to get out.

"With the tide incoming and to reduce the risk of the owner putting themselves in danger, both teams were tasked to the incident. Thankfully the lucky dog was recovered, without any injuries and brought back to the safety of the RNLI station and its very thankful owner.
"Well done to all and to the owner for making the right decision.
"Never put yourself in danger if a family pet gets into difficult near the water. Dial 112/999 and ask for the Coast Guard."
Commenting on the post, Mairead said: "I am the lucky owner and so grateful to everyone. Lola is very happy and well."
Brilliant work by everyone involved!
