Adorable puppies snatched from East Lothian home reunited with distraught owner

Adorable puppies cruelly snatched from an East Lothian home have been found "safe and well".

Officers shared the good news on social media, much to delight of locals, alongside a snap of the pups on their ride home in the police car.

The German Shepherd/Belgian Shepherd-cross pups had been stolen from a home in Prestonpans on Monday (October 12).

Owner Debbie Smith was left terrified and heartbroken and shared a desperate appeal on social media, writing that she no longer felt safe in her home.

Police say enquiries into the theft is ongoing.

In a statement, East Lothian police division said: Following the report of two German Shepherd pups being stolen for an address in Prestonpans on Monday night, officers are pleased to report that both pups have been traced safe and well.

"Police Scotland would like to thank everyone who offered their assistance in relation to this matter."
