Admissions in private schools under RTE from March 2

LUCKNOW: Children belonging to economically weaker sections will be able to apply for admissions in private schools for academic session 2022-23 under the Right to Education (RTE) Act from March 2.

Online registration for admissions can be done till February 28.

As per the schedule, the RTE admissions will be done in three phases. The application process for the first phase will begin from March 2 and conclude on March 25.

The second phase will be held from April 2 till April 23.

The lottery for the first two phases will be out on March 30 and April 28, respectively.

Admissions for first phase will end by April 5 while the second phase admissions will end by May 5.

The application process for the third phase will begin from May 2 and conclude by June 10.

The lottery for final phase will be declared on June 15 while admissions will close by June 30.

Director-general, school education, Anamika Singh has directed officials to create awareness among private schools regarding online registration process. Basic shiksha adhikaris have also been asked to conduct awareness meetings with school associations for maximum outreach.

Schools have also been directed to enter the correct number of RTE seats on the portal. Private recognised schools which fail to register online within the stipulated time will be mapped.

After the registration process, officials will take up a massive community awareness drive to encourage parents to participate in the application process.

Under the Right To Education Act , children belonging to economically weaker sections and disadvantaged groups, are admitted to recognized unaided private schools to the extent of 25% of the total capacity of their entry level classes, either pre-primary or Class 1.
