Admin gears up for over 8 lakh footfall at Kashi Vishwanath Dham on third ‘Somvar’

VARANASI: After over six lakhs pilgrims and kanwariyas broke all previous records of high footfall in Kashi Vishwanath Dham (corridor) in a single day for offering prayer and jalabhishek to Lord Vishwanath on the second Monday of Shravan, officials are now readying the corridor and its vicinity to host over eight lakh devotees.

“Devising new strategies like jharokha darshan (offering prayer from outside the sanctum sanctorum) from all four gates of the garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum) for continuous 19 hours after its opening with the performing of Mangla aarti at 4 am has enabled to ensure that each pilgrim or kanwariya returns after getting darshan of Lord Vishwanath,” said divisional commissioner and chairman of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Special Areas Development Board, Deepak Agrawal while sharing strategies for hosting a record-breaking crowd with TOI on Tuesday.

There has been a massive jump in the footfall of devotees from the next day of the opening of KV Dham by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 13.
