Aditya Tare out of Ranji Trophy semis; UP add Mohsin Khan

MUMBAI: In a blow to Mumbai ahead of their Ranji Trophy semifinal against Uttar Pradesh from June 14 at the Just Cricket Academy in Bangalore, former captain and wicketkeeper Aditya Tare has been ruled out of the match due to a fracture in the middle finger of his left hand.

The 34-year-old has been replaced by Prasad Pawar, who made his debut for Mumbai during the Vijay Hazare Trophy earlier this season, in the squad. Tare’s absence, though, means that Hardik Tamore is set to get his spot in the XI. Tare injured his finger while going for a catch down the leg side off pacer Tushar Deshpande. The experienced glovesman had scored 1 & 57 in Mumbai’s 725-run quarterfinal against Uttarakhand. Overall, Tare has played 80 first-class matches, and scored 4523 runs@36.77, with nine hundreds and 27 fifties, and taken 263 catches and effected 25 stumpings.

"Tare left for Mumbai the team this evening. At the same time, Pawar flew in this evening," a source told TOI.

Mohsin Khan joins UP squad

Meanwhile, in a big boost for Uttar Pradesh, young paceman Mohsin Khan, who impressed while taking 14 wickets in nine matches for Lucknow Super Giants, has joined their squad for the Ranji Trophy semis against Mumbai. The 23-year-old has played just one first-class match so far. "Mohsin could replace pacer Shivam Mavi, who has a niggle," a source said.
