Adil Ray slams 'unbelievable' GMB guest who says he's 'fed up' of helping poor people

Good Morning Britain viewers were impressed by host Adil Ray's furious comebacks to a guest slammed as "selfish" for saying he's "fed up" of supporting those worse off.

The clash between the host and commentator came on Thursday when Adil and his co-host Charlotte Hawkins invited Quentin Letts and Ayesha Hazarika on to the show to discuss Wednesday's budget, The Mirror reports.

And parliamentary sketch writer Quentin made it clear he didn't think there should be any more help for those struggling with rising prices this winter.

When Charlotte said: "Nothing to help people on energy bills?", he quickly stepped in.

"Hold on, you say help?! This is our money that the politicians are giving away and the idea that you can just help people without any cost to other people is quite wrong," he said.

But Adil was having none of it and fired back: "Why is that quite wrong? If people are poor and vulnerable, shouldn't we all be helping them? Isn't that the idea of a society? That's unbelievable you would say that."

The two argued back and forth as Adil said: "Are you not prepared to pay for somebody worse off?"

Political sketch writer Quentin bluntly replied: "I think I'd get a bit fed up at some point, yeah."

Clearly raging, Adil added: "But how do we get on as a society then? How do we stop people from going to food banks?"

Challenging his point, Quentin asked Adil: "So what extent do you take it to then?"

"Well, you stop people from going to food banks for a start!" Adil fumed. "You stop people from not being able to put their heating on for a start!"

But Quentin was not convinced, insisting: "The core thing about politics - self sufficiency."

On Twitter, viewers rushed to back Adil, with many condemning Quentin's views as "selfish". One wrote: " @GMB thank heavens @adilray talks sense about the budget today, and shame on you Quentin Letts. Good for you Ads."

Another called his view: "the epitome of the selfish, compassionless, I’m alright Jack, Tory mindset."
