In honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is the month of October, Adidas by Stella McCartney has launched a post-mastectomy sports bra.

The sports bra was created in partnership with London-based lingerie stylist, Monica Harrington, who runs workshops on post-surgery body confidence as a part of Breast Cancer Care’s Moving Forward courses.

The bra is the first of its kind for Adidas, and has been specially constructed with unique design features which cater to the needs of post-surgery women.

The bra shape is designed to avoid the usual scarring areas which result from surgery and comes with a front zip, to avoid any uncomfortable stretching when getting dressed. It also has hidden pockets sewn inside for prostheses.

Starring in the campaign for the Adidas by Stella McCartney post-mastectomy bra is British boxer and breast cancer survivor, Michele Aboro.

Breast Cancer awareness is a topic close to McCartney’s heart as she lost her mother Linda to breast cancer in 1998 and since 2014 has run an annual Breast Cancer Awareness campaign through her eponymous, sustainable label.

The Adidas by Stella McCartney post-mastectomy bra retails for £59 and is available to buy here.
