Manchester United kit manufacturer Adidas have responded to an error in their marketing that saw them mix up two women footballers.
Defender Millie Turner's image was featured on the marketing campaign that saw the German sports company launch the brand new home kit for Manchester United, but they mistakenly put the name of her former teammate Amy on the image instead.
Amy left Manchester United earlier this summer to go the United States with Orlando Pride, while Millie has been with the Red Devils for three seasons now.
On top of that, Millie Turner has been an Adidas athlete for the past two years, making the error all the more embarrassing.
The 25-year-old is a household name among Women's Super League fans and informed her 33,000 Twitter followers of the mistake.
"Considering I’ve been at Manchester United for 3 years and an adidas athlete for 2… You’d like to think adidas would get my name right," she tweet on Thursday.
It took a few hours, but Adidas eventually responded issuing an apology to the Manchester United star, offering a gesture of goodwill to her and her fans.
"Millie, we messed up and we’re gutted," Adidas responded.
"You're part of the adidas family and we want to make amends. Let’s get some new shirts out to your biggest fans. Let us know who and we’ll deliver."
At the time of writing, Turner had yet to publicly acknowledge the offer from Adidas in any way.
