Adidas and Transport for London launch limited edition trainers inspired by the London Underground

Adidas has launched a range of limited edition trainers inspired by the London Underground.

The collaboration with Transport for London (TfL) celebrates the 15-year anniversary of the oyster card.

The “Oyster Club pack” will go on sale this weekend and designs include Temper Run, ZX 500RM and Continental 80.

Only 500 of each trainer will be sold and is based on the Tube’s rich history.

The ZX 500RM is inspired by vintage advertising posters found in abandoned train stations, featuring the ‘Hidden London’ roundel on the tongue of the food.

The Continental 80 pays homage to the Metropolitan Line, the first ever underground line in the world, featuring the original map for the line embroidered on the side of the shoe.

They will be available from November 3 and 10 respectively.

The Temper Run spotlights the 15th-anniversary of the Oyster Card also features the iconic ‘Mind The Gap’ roundel on the left foot tongue.

They will be available to buy on Saturday 27 at the adidas Originals stores in London at Fouberts Place and Hanbury Street, as well as select retailers, and will cost £80.

Buyers will also get an oyster card worth £80 loaded onto it in a specially designed leather wallet.

Gavin Thomson from adidas said: “London is a city bubbling with creativity from a population constantly moving forwards. TfL and the Underground network make that possible. This partnership allows adidas to celebrate the world’s most famous transport system and London through our designs.

Each pair will come with an oyster card worth £80 loaded on to it.

“True to adidas’ Originals principles, the collaboration takes its inspiration from the past, present and future to celebrate the heritage and unity of London’s creators. United by TfL. Told by Originals.”

Graeme Craig, Director of Commercial Development at TfL said: "The Tube, its roundel and the Oyster Card are all iconic symbols of London and this partnership shows how two world-renowned brands can work together to produce something truly original.

"Collaborations like this help provide vital funds that we invest in modernising the transport network for the benefit of all our customers."
