Aden Baldwin 'lost for words' trying to explain Notts County equaliser in play-off showdown

There was no better time for Aden Baldwin to open his Notts County account. His goal double ensured their play-off encounter with Boreham Wood went to extra-time - before the Magpies won in dramatic fashion.

County booked their place in the Wembley final this Saturday (3.30pm kick-off) after coming from two goals behind to beat Luke Garrard's side on a special afternoon at Meadow Lane.

Trailing to goals from Femi Ilesanmi and Lee Ndlovu, it took Notts two minutes after the restart to get back into the game when Baldwin fired the ball into the bottom corner from range.

But when seemingly all hope was lost, substitute Jodi Jones fired in a dangerous ball from the right that central defender Baldwin headed home to double his tally for the afternoon, and the season.

"I don't even know how to explain it," Baldwin said later. "It is one of the best feelings I have ever felt - for Jodi to cut in and hit it as hard as he did, I just needed to connect with it, which I did, and I had that realisation that we could only go on to win the game from there. It sent shivers down my spine. It was just a surreal feeling."

Luke Williams' side would go onto win the game and book their place in this Saturday's final against Chesterfield when Jones' effort hit the roof of the net with the aid of a Joe McDonnell fingertip, sparking wild celebrations at Meadow Lane with supporters spilling onto the pitch.

"It just shows the togetherness between us, the staff and everyone involved with the club, along with the fans. It was a great feeling and we're off to Wembley now."

The County players took time out to remember Club CEO Jason Turner, who died at the end of March and whose funeral was last Wednesday.

Baldwin led the tributes to the 50-year-old, saying: "I am really not good with words but Jason is the type of man who would have enjoyed that.

"It was really emotional day and I am so happy that we did that for him and I am sure he is up there looking and smiling down on us."
