Adelphi guest finds room like a 'horror film' covered in 'hay with blood stained bed'

A guest said she was left shaking after opening her hotel room door to be greeted with a scene "straight from a horror movie'"

Rebecca Hill was staying at the Adelphi hotel in Liverpool on Friday evening when she claims she made the gruesome discovery.

The 42-year-old from Neston said she checked in at 4pm and was given the key to room 124.

She told the ECHO: “As soon as I opened the door I knew that something didn't feel right. It felt weird.

“I opened the door and I was faced with this box thing on the floor that looked like it had hay in it.

“As I looked around, the room was an absolute state.

“There was hay in the corner on the floor, and to me what looked like rabbit droppings to be honest. It was all over the place.

“Empty bottles empty cans. Food cartons all over the floor.”

However worse was to come as Rebecca approached the unmade bed and claims she found blood smeared all over the sheets.

She said: “I went into the bathroom and opened the door slowly because I thought oh my god, is there going to be somebody in here?

“The bath was full to the brim with water and there was more hay in the corner and what looked to me like rabbit droppings.

“It was awful, absolutely awful.”

Shocked at what she had seen, Rebecca took some pictures quickly using her phone and went back downstairs to reception.

Rebecca claims she was asked by a man at reception if she was okay, while trying to explain to him what she had seen.

She added: "When I was explaining to him what I'd seen I was actually shaking because I was just so shocked by what I'd seen. I actually couldn't believe what I'd come face to face with .

“I told him I needed a drink because he could see I was shaking in shock.”

Rebecca claims the hotel receptionist apologised to her and offered to upgrade her to another room which she accepted before taking a walk in the city centre to calm herself down.

When she returned, the receptionist called her over saying he had spoken to the manager.

Rebecca claims: “When I came back the guy who sorted the room for me said the manager had put something aside for you.

“He then came back with this bottle of prosecco. I said, oh thanks.”

Reluctant to stay any longer in the hotel but feeling stuck as she had already paid, Rebecca took her bottle of prosecco and went to her new room.

She said: “Before I went to sleep I pushed a set of draws up against the door because I felt that nervous about it.”

Adding: “I've never ever in my life come face to face with that. I mean, I've stayed in some dives in the past but that was beyond belief.

“I can't actually believe that happened - I was shaking with the shock of it.”

The ECHO approached Britannia, the owners of the Adelphi hotel, for comment but did not receive a reply ahead of publication.
