Adele ‘signs multi-million pound book deal and in talks for world tour'

Adele is finally set to tell her story after reportedly agreeing a multi-million pound publishing deal for her first autobiography.

The 37-year-old star, whose near-20-year career has earned her 16 Grammys, 12 BRIT Awards, an Oscar, an Emmy and a Golden Globe, is expected to share an intimate account of her rise from Tottenham teenager to global superstar.

According to reports, the book will chart her journey from childhood and her years at the BRIT School to international fame, while also delving into her private life.

A source told The Sun: “Publishers have been desperate to sign Adele to tell her story but she's always said no.

“Finally she is ready and it will be Adele in her own words — beyond the headlines. As well as taking in her rise to fame in music, it will touch on her upbringing and her personal life.”

Alongside the book deal, the outlet has reported that talks are under way for Adele to launch a world tour next year, with the possibility of new music on the horizon.

Born in 1988, Adele signed her first record deal in 2006 and has since sold more than 120 million records worldwide.

The hitmaker last went on tour in 2017 and has previously spoken about the strain of life on the road.

She said: “I’d still like to make records, but I’d be fine if I never heard [the applause] again. I’m on tour simply to see everyone who’s been so supportive.

“I don’t care about money. I’m British, and we don’t have that thing of having to earn more money all the time.”

Her last world tour ended early in 2017 after she cancelled two final Wembley shows due to vocal problems, though she later agreed to a record-breaking Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace.

Adele’s Weekends with Adele residency ran from 2022 until 2024, with all 100 performances selling out.

Last summer, she followed it with a ten-night run in Munich, giving her European fans a rare chance to see her live.

Despite the reports of a possible world tour, she admitted to fans that they would not she her on stage “for an incredibly long time”.

“After [Vegas finishes], I will not see you for an incredibly long time,” she shared at the end of her German shows.

“I will hold you dear in my heart for that whole length of my break, and I will fantasise about these shows and any shows that I’ve done over the last three years. It has been amazing, I just need a rest.

“I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now.”

The Standard has contacted Adele’s rep for comment.
