Adele's Welsh estranged dad Mark Evans dies at 57 after battle with cancer

Superstar singer Adele's Welsh father, who she has a strained relationship with, has reportedly died at the age of 57.

Mark Evans had been suffering from cancer at the time of his death.

A source told the Sun: "Mark's family are of course very upset by his passing. He always hoped things would work out with Adele, but it remaned acrimonious to the end. He made a few attempts to make things right, but clearly it had been too long."

In 2013, Mark revealed he was battling bowel cancer, and feared he would not get the chance to meet his grandson, Adele's son Angelo.

Mark, a plumber, returned to Wales after having Adele with her mum Penny Adkins, who raised her as a single mum alone.

Mark said he kept in touch with his daughter for years, spending summer holidays in a caravan in Tenby and days eating ice cream on the beach at Barry Island.

He remembered a happy-go-lucky little girl who loved swimming and was obsessed with the Spice Girls.

But Mark said alcoholism took over his life after his 57-year-old dad died from bowel cancer and all but destroyed his relationship with Adele.

“I hit the booze,” Mark told the Daily Mail. “I got wrapped up in myself. I wasn’t there for her. The alcohol affected my relationship with Adele. I regret it and I always will.”

Despite their strained relationship, sources claim the singer will still be upset by her dad's passing.
