Adele's fans panic as star hints new album is postponed to 2021

Adele has caused panic among her fans by hinting that she will postpone her highly anticipated fourth studio album until next year.

The 31-year-old chart topping star dropped a heavy hint that her next album will be staying locked away until 2021 during an online chat with fellow musicians.

Adele was speaking with producers Babyface and Teddy Riley via Instagram live on Saturday night when she made a comment that left many fans fearing the worst.

The Insta Live story was beset with technical problems that interrupted the conversation, leading the British singer to comment: “Come on, it’s 2020 – we ain’t meant to get what we want!” with many interpreting this to suggest her album won’t be released in 2020.

For fans of Adele, it has been five painfully long years since the release of her last album, titled 25.

And the thought that the next album might be delayed by more than eight months has sparked anxiety and chaos.

“Adele has been on IG replying on Lives while were here waiting for five thousand years and she said "come on it's 2020 we ain't meant to get what we want" and decided to add not one but six laughing emojis like… srsly, is that freaking funny miss adkins?” one fan wrote on Twitter.

Another nervous fan tweeted: “Adele hinted we won’t get new music in 2020,” alongside a meme declaring: “Stop! It’s actually painful to watch!”

Another wrote: “It means A.D.E.L.E. by Adele will release on 2021,” alongside crying and skull emojis.

The hint sparked a near backlash with fans as many others took to social media to urge the singer not to delay the release of new music.

“Right @Adele hen, get this new album released and change my lockdown,” one fan demanded.

While another said new material would help alleviate the frustrations caused by coronavirus lockdown, tweeting: “The only thing that would help this situation would be a Adele’s new album.”

It had been reported that plans were afoot for Adele’s album to be released in September, however she may be following the trend of other artists to delay release due to the current coronavirus outbreak.

Lady Gaga and Alanis Morissette are among other chart superstars who have already announced they will delay the release of their albums due to the global health crisis.
