Adele Roberts breaks down in tears over late Tom Parker during her own cancer battle

Adele Roberts broke down in tears after watching a video of the late Tom Parker amid her own cancer battle.

The 43-year-old Radio 1 presenter was diagnosed with bowel cancer in October last year, and revealed she would be taking time away from her hit show on the airwaves as she underwent surgery and chemotherapy.

Adele has been keeping her fans and followers up to date on her health journey, and in a video on her Instagram Stories, she revealed she was about to have her last chemotherapy session.

However, she wept as she talked about The Wanted star Tom, who passed away in March following a battle with brain cancer, aged just 33.

“So just been to the gym this morning to prepare my body for the…” Adele began, pausing briefly as she became emotional.

“Sorry, my final round of chemotherapy. I'm just upset because I've been watching a video about Tom Parker from The Wanted,” she told her 180,000 followers.

“I'm just really sad for him that he's passed away but I was just saying on my Facebook page that I wish I could have met him in real life.

“Just to thank him for the strength that he's given me and also all the wonderful people on Instagram who have been good to me and, of course, you Katie,” she added, thanking her girlfriend Kate Holderness.

Adele said she’s been working out to try and counter-balance the draining and debilitating side-effects of the chemotherapy, but was hopeful she’ll be cancer free in a just a matter of weeks.

“Anyway, hopefully going to pick up my last round of chemotherapy from the hospital today. And what I try and do each day is get out of bed, look after my body,” she explained.

“It's really suffering now and feeling the effects of chemotherapy so I've been to the gym done a stepping session and I'm gonna walk to the hospital now pick up my final round,” the former Big Brother star continued.

“Hopefully in two weeks time I'll be ringing that bell to say that I've finished chemotherapy, I'll have a scan after that and them hopefully I'll be cancer free,” she smiled. “Fingers crossed.”

Adele went under the knife in October last year to have part of her bowel removed, following her cancer diagnosis.

She urged anyone with symptoms to visit their GP, and said while she was embarrassed to be talking to her doctor about her digestion problems, she was “lucky” her cancer was still treatable.
