Adele jokes she's signed up for Love Island as she pokes fun at divorce heartbreak

Adele joked she's signed up for Love Island as she made fun of her divorce heartbreak on Saturday Night Live this weekend.

The singer, 32, returned to the spotlight to host the US sketch show last night, and she took part in a parody of dating series The Bachelor.

Showing off her dramatic weight loss in a black lace ballgown, Adele - who split from husband Simon Konecki last year - joined the spoof as a female contestant looking for a date.

"I'm here because I've had a lot of heartbreak in my life - first at 19 and then, sort of famously, at 21 and then, even more famously, at 25," she joked, referencing the titles of her first three albums.

"I have a really good feeling about [The Bachelor] Ben,” she went on. "It's only night one, but I can already tell he's going to be the next love of my life."

The parody skit saw her endure rejections from The Bachelor Ben C. when she came on a bit too strong as she vied for his heart.

Adele wasn’t awarded the first impression rose and immediately burst into a rendition of her epic heartbreak anthem Someone Like You, before being reminded to pace herself emotionally given the amount of episodes left.

She later broke into another of her famous tunes When We Were Young while having some alone time with Ben C. and sang lines from Hello from a bush while trying to steal his attention while talking to other women.

Later, speaking to the camera, Adele said she realised she was coming on too strong and decided to play it "chill and cool."

But it didn’t last long.

When one of the other women tried to butt into her conversation with Ben, the singing superstar shattered a wine glass with her bare hand and delivered a hilariously threatening performance of Rolling In the Deep.

"Okay, I'm a huge fan, but I don't feel safe with her here," one of the women said after the confrontation.

The Bachelor eventually decided Adele was too much and decided to give her the boot.

Adele completed the skit with a rendition of Someone Like You, delighting the audience at the New York venue.

At the end of the song, she turned to the audience and declared: "Thank you everyone - catch me next week on Love Island!"

She'd previously insisted she wouldn't be singing on the show as she'd landed the hosting gig instead of a slot as the musical guest, admitting in her opening speech she was "too scared" to do both.
