Adele is in early talks to make a cameo appearance in Xavier Dolan’s new film, The Death and Life of John F Donovan.

The singer previously worked with Dolan on the video for her record-breaking new song, Hello – her first in three years. She is discussing the possibility of an unspecified role in the drama, according to Screen Daily.

The film will be Dolan’s first English-language project and is set to star Jessica Chastain, Kit Harington, Susan Sarandon and Kathy Bates. It focuses on a US actor who finds himself in a media circus after his correspondence with an 11-year-old is made public.

After making the video for Hello, which broke the record for the most views in 24 hours, Adele dropped a hint that she might be working with the 26-year-old director again.

“I’m sure I’ll get some flak for this, but I actually would like to act after working with Xavier,” she told Kiss FM. “I would be in a film for him, definitely.”

Dolan’s screen credits include Tom at the Farm and Mommy, and he has just wrapped production on It’s Only the End of the World, starring Marion Cotillard and Vincent Cassel.

Adele can already count herself as an Oscar winner after her Skyfall theme won the award for best original song in 2013.
