Adele delights fans as she vows to begin work on follow-up to hit album 30 soon

With the famously lengthy breaks Adele takes between her blockbuster albums, you’d be forgiven for expecting her next to be called 47. However, the charttopper has insisted that won't be the case, and – in news that will no doubt thrill her legions of fans – she plans to begin working on the follow-up to 30 very soon.

Adele, 33, reveals: “I definitely want to start exercising my writing muscles more. In that break I take, I don’t do anything! It usually takes me a good year to make a record.

“The other five years I am literally not even listening to music most of the time. But I really want to try for six months, at least, to pick up the guitar every day and have a little fiddle around.

“I do think that will be good for my creativity and craft.”

Five years doing nothing productive… who does she think she is, a British MP?!

However, Adele doesn't regret waiting what felt like an eternity to put out her latest record, which inevitably stormed to the top of the charts globally last year.

The singer, who divorced husband Simon Konecki, 47, last year, explains: “I am so calm now at this point in my life and have made so much progress.

“Maybe I was not ready for it to come out last year (2020.) I might not have been in such a healthy place.

“I thought I would never find joy again; never be motivated to laugh or feel anything.”

When Alan Carr’s your bestie, surely you don’t have to worry about laughing? I’m still giggling over his rendition of Make You Feel My Love during ITV ’s An Audience with Adele.
