Adele announces first major appearance in four years as she prepares to host Saturday Night Live

Adele has announced details of her comeback as the singer prepares to host US comedy show Saturday Night Live.

The Someone Like you Singer will appear on the programme on October 24, with H.E.R. being the musical guest of the evening.

Adele got fans excited on Sunday when she delivered the news on Instagram on Sunday night.

It will be the first major appearance from the popstar since her most recent tour four years ago, reports the Mirror.

Many are hopeful that the 32-year-old will reveal details of a new album on the show, which will be her first music released since her album ’25’ in 2015.

It is the first time she has hosted SNL but 12 years ago she appeared on the late night comedy show as a performer.

"Bloooooody hellllll I'm so excited about this!!" Adele captioned the post. "And also absolutely terrified! My first ever hosting gig and for SNL of all things!!!!

"I've always wanted to do it as a stand alone moment, so that I could roll up my sleeves and fully throw myself into it, but the time has never been right.

"But if there was ever a time for any of us to jump head first into the deep end with our eyes closed and hope for the best it's 2020 right?"

Adele said the timing feels right after what was going on in the world the last time she hosted SNL.

She added: "It'll be almost 12 years to the day that I first appeared on the show, during an election...which went on to break my career in America, so it feels full circle and I just couldn't possibly say no!

"I am besides myself that H.E.R will be the musical guest!!

"I love her SO much I can't wait to melt into a flaming hot mess when she performs, then confuse myself while I laugh my a**e off in between it all.

"See you next week.”

Adele's career has been relatively quiet since her last tour in 2016.

That year she played Glastonbury Festival and toured the world, but she had to cancel her last two gigs due to vocal injuries.
