Alex Carey has cracked a superb century as the Adelaide Strikers set Brisbane Heat 198 runs to win Thursday night's BBL match.
Carey made an elegant 101 from 62 balls as the Strikers posted 5-197 at Adelaide Oval.
The lefthander's second BBL ton came from just 60 balls and featured 10 fours and three sixes.
Carey was unfortunate to be given out from the second-last ball of the innings - adjudged caught-behind when the ball struck his right forearm.
Carey and opening partner Jake Weatherald (36 from 18 balls) clubbed 66 from the opening six overs in a partnership ended by the Heat's Marnus Labuschagne (2-20 from two overs).
Labuschagne's leg-spin was smacked for consecutive sixes by Carey and the Test recall dropped a simple caught-and-bowled chance from the next ball.
The miss resulted in a single and Weatherald (five fours, one six) was caught on the leg-side boundary from the following ball.
Test discard Travis Head partnered Carey and both continued to accelerate with the Strikers an imposing 1-104 after 10 overs.
At the midway point, Brisbane subbed out South African paceman Morne Morkel, who bowled a single over for 10 runs, in favour of batsman Max Bryant.
The Carey-Head union was broken with the first ball of the 12th over when Head (25 from 19) hit a Labuschagne long-hop to midwicket - giving the leggie wickets on consecutive balls.
Labuschagne's hat-trick was denied by Phil Salt (26 from 17), who combined with Carey for a 50-run stand from just 29 deliveries.
