Adelaide High School teacher charged with aggravated indecent assault

A teacher at Adelaide High School has been charged with aggravated indecent assault.

An Adelaide teacher has been suspended from work after he was charged with a child sex offence.

Police said the Adelaide High School teacher was arrested on Saturday and charged with aggravated indecent assault.

The man was granted police bail and will face the Adelaide Magistrates Court in August.

In a letter to parents on Thursday, Adelaide High School principal Cez Green said the teacher was arrested and charged on June 20.

She said the teacher's bail conditions prevent him from "engaging in any child-related work".

"The teacher has been directed away from the workplace and instructed not to attend the school pending the outcome of the police investigation and prosecution," she wrote.

Ms Green said the teacher could not be named until the court appearance, but assured parents they would be updated on the progress of the prosecution.

She also urged parents to contact her directly if they had any concerns.

"I understand this is distressing information," she said.

"If you have any concerns about the safety and welfare of your child, please feel free to contact me directly at the school."

Police said investigations were continuing and have asked anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
