Adelaide Crows to appeal Ebony Marinoff suspension over Brid Stack challenge

Adelaide Crows are to appeal the three-match suspension given to Ebony Marinoff for a challenge on Brid Stack.

The 11-time All-Ireland winner suffered a neck injury after a collision with Marinoff on Sunday and was taken to hospital as a result.

Former Cork footballer Stack, who was making her debut for GWS Giants, suffered a stable fracture of the C7 vertebrae and has since been released from hospital.

Marinoff was handed the ban on Tuesday, with the appeal set to be heard on Thursday.

Crows say they are appealing the suspension on the grounds that it is "unreasonable" and "excessive".

The club's Head of Women’s Football Phil Harper said: “We are appealing this decision because we all feel that the suspension is grossly disproportionate for the action.

“We need to support our player in this instance as we feel Ebony acted in an appropriate manner given the circumstances of this incident.

“We also feel for the Giants and Brid in particular and wish her all the best for what is hopefully a speedy recovery.”

Stack is expected to make a full recovery from the injury.
