The starting time for Adelaide United's A-League Women clash with Canberra United has been pushed back because of predicted extreme heat.

Originally due to kick off at 3.30pm (ACDT) at ServiceFM Stadium in Adelaide on Saturday, the match has been pushed back to 7pm.

Several games this season have been moved to avoid clashing with mid-afternoon heat.

Adelaide star Dylan Holmes had previously lamented the initial timing of the game.

"Unfortunately I think (the heat) impacts the quality of the game all round just because it's harder to do things the way you want to when it's that hot," Holmes said.

"It's also not the most enjoyable experience for the spectators to sit through that."

Adelaide are attempting to bounce back from a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Newcastle while Canberra lost to Victory 1-0 despite a plethora of chances.

"Canberra's a really great team," Holmes said.

"If you look at their results I don't think they're completely indicative of the quality they have and how they fared in those games.

"Their forward line is incredibly dangerous and defensively we're going to need to be really, really strong but also offensively we have to take our chances.

Coach Adrian Stenta urged his charges to get on the front foot against Canberra.

"Canberra is going to be a difficult side to come up against - they've been playing quite well, despite a couple of their recent results," coach

"We're really going to have to be positive and back ourselves in.

"On some level, the points are important, but like I've said previously, we just want to be better this week than we were last week.

"So as long as we can see that improvement, obviously getting the result is the ultimate goal, but we need to be seeing improvement in the areas that we've identified."
