Addo-Carr excited by Dogs reunion

Josh Addo-Carr is relishing the chance to reunite with Canterbury teammate Matt Burton against Scotland but the winger says his team must keep an eye out for a familiar face in the Bravehearts' ranks.

Addo-Carr and Burton have formed a blossoming combination at Canterbury, with the latter set to make his Kangaroos debut at centre in Coventry on Friday (Saturday AEDT).

Burton's halves' partners have chopped and changed at Belmore, but he may come up against a man good judges have pencilled in as a potential long-term candidate for the Bulldogs' halfback berth.

Bailey Hayward will play for Scotland after winning Canterbury's Jersey Flegg player of the year award and featuring in NSW Cup.

Still just 21, Addo-Carr said the playmaker, who moves into their top 30 squad next year, could go on to become an established Bulldogs player in the coming years.

"Bala Bailey, he's one of the younger boys who has trained with the first-grade squad a number of times," Addo-Carr told AAP.

"He's a smart player so we'll have our work cut out. He's only a little fella, a nippy one at that.

"He reminds me of Ben Hunt who got the under 20s' player of the year award.

"That tells me he had a great year and helped us out and I think he's got a bright future. If he keeps working hard I've no doubt that he'll be there."

Addo-Carr said he was excited about sharing Burton's maiden cap with him and it was suggested the pair would fail to make representative teams by moving to the struggling club.

"We've worked extremely hard through the year but we improved as it went on," he said.

"It's only upwards from here, it's special to be a part of and there was lots of noise about us not making rep sides.

"It's good for us boys but it's great for this club and it's put a shining light on the Bulldogs."
