Addleshaw Goddard hires infrastructure expert from DWF

Law firm Addleshaw Goddard has recruited Suzanne Moir as a partner based in Edinburgh with its Infrastructure Projects & Energy Practice (IPE).

Moir, who was previously a partner and head of projects at DWF, joins London-based Martin Stewart-Smith, who joined the IPE practice in April from Bracewell LLP.

During more than 20 years' experience, Moir has advising on infrastructure and procurement work in the public and private sectors. She has particular expertise in energy from waste projects, roads, tolling, light rail, rail franchises.

Moir led DWF's team advising the Scottish Government in 2017 on the delivery of superfast broadband, and is advising organisations across the UK on the 5G and fibre telecoms market.

Richard Goodfellow, head of AG's Infrastructure, Projects and Energy Group, said: "Suzanne's appointment is aligned to our overall ambition to serve large mandates in the IPE space, where our aim is to develop an established market-leading reputation in global IPE activities.

"Our plan to assemble by 2021 one of the strongest global practices in the market is ahead of schedule. Suzanne's experience in energy waste management will play well into our Energy & Utilities sector practice, adding additional capability to our already strong team in which we're uniquely placed to maximise the new energy reality."

AG's IPE practice has taken on eight new partners in the last 18 months, including Aberdeen-based oil and gas specialist David McEwing who joined from Pinsent Masons in February 2019.

Goodfellow added: "In the last 18 months we have focused on adding additional capabilities to our already strong team as part of a clearly defined strategy to build on our strong UK base and develop internationally. Infrastructure and Energy is a global market and there are significant growth opportunities in this field, whether it is a flight to infrastructure spending or the transition by oil and gas companies to a zero carbon future."
