Additional gardai to be sent to North Dublin following horror Coolock shooting

The Justice Minister says additional Garda resources will be sent to North Dublin after the horror shooting in Coolock last weekend.

Eoin Boylan, 22, was gunned down outside his home in Clonshaugh Avenue on Sunday and pronounced dead in nearby Beaumont Hospital.

Boylan was the fifth victim of the feud this year and community activists and politicians have been calling for extra Garda resources since the spate began.

Speaking in the Dail yesterday Charlie Flanagan said: “I am aware of the incident the Deputy is referring to, particularly the shooting which took place this past weekend.

“I understand the Garda Commissioner intends to allocate additional Garda resources to the DMR North Division from the attestation scheduled for tomorrow.”

Investigating officers believe Mr Boylan was shot as part a drugs feud operating in the area.

He had been warned his life was under threat and had previously survived another attempt on his life.

The spate of killings kicked off last January when 22-year-old Zach Parker was gunned down outside a gym in Swords.

Months later the war escalated even further with the deaths of drug dealers Sean Little, Jordan Davis, and Iranian hitman Hamid Sanambar.
