Additional consultation needed on 'major' Kilmarnock housing development

Housing chiefs have been told that additional consultation should be carried out in relation to a 'major' bid to build new homes.

Bosses at Bellway Homes have been instructed to create more opportunities for residents to have a say on blueprints to maximise community input.

The major housebuilder wants to construct 58 new homes on vacant land at Kilmarnock's Moorfield estate.

The site takes in a considerable piece of land between the B7081 and includes the estate's playpark..

Permission for 56 dwellings was previously granted for the parcel of land off Dumfries Drive.

Bellway lodged a pre-application proposal with East Ayrshire Council last month.

And last week planners said that an additional online consultation in a time period outwith normal working office hours, for example, from 6pm to 8pm is required.

Bellway initially said that they plan on creating a project website to provide local residents with key information on the development proposals.

Their initial online consultation was mooted for Thursday, June 10 between 3pm to 5pm.
