CHICAGO _ Addison Russell's arching grand slam in the fifth inning led the Cubs to a 10-6 win over the Twins on a sweltering day at Wrigley Field.
The Cubs belted four home runs to win for the third time in four games.
Russell was in a power slump all season, but now has two home runs and eight RBIs over the last two games. He made a curtain call Friday after his slam off Jose Berrios.
Ben Zobrist added a two-run blast in the sixth and Kyle Schwarber hit a solo shot in the seventh that bounced into the upper section of center field, as the Cubs pulled away.
The Twins struck first on Joe Mauer's three-run, opposite-field home run in the second inning, before Jason Heyward's two-run shot in the third cut the Cubs' deficit to one.
After Cubs starter Mike Montgomery's throwing error on a sacrifice in the fourth, Mauer lined a double to center past a diving Albert Almora Jr. to bring in two more runs.
Montgomery lasted five innings in the 96-degree heat, allowing three earned runs on seven hits and three walks.
The Twins put a scare into the Cubs with a rally off Justin Wilson in the ninth. Brandon Morrow was called on with two outs and induced a fly ball on his first pitch to end it.
Cubs econd baseman Javier Baez was not in the lineup Friday afternoon after the birth of his son Thursday night, but received a standing ovation when he pinch-hit in the seventh.
